Internship experience at an automobile company

In order to apply the knowledge I learnt at school into practice and to accumulate some social experiences, I did an internship at Brilliance Auto in China during my spring break in 2014.

Brilliance Auto is the company that operates in the production of automobiles and its marketing and sales. The company was established on July 22nd in1991. And, the number of employees is around 8,000 till now. The company has also appeared in the market both in the US and Hong Kong. The main types of the productions are zhonghua car; light bus and MVP (multi-purpose vehicle) car. And I took part in the internship program at the number two assembly shop in process group.I was mainly in charge of the assembly of PT cars of J11 project which is a project produced by Magna company from Austria, BMW and Brilliance company from China.

The project group produces a new type of MVP cars and finishes PT cars assembly during one month before put them into their production line. Workers from Austria and China have worked together to finish assembly.
I was responsible for helping process workers to assemble PT cars one collect problems reflected from workers and writing a report reflected to the shop manager. While I was not satisfied with the work I was doing, I positively talked to foreign experts during break time, ask about their management model, different assembly technology and their personal experiment. Therefore, they always asked me to translate for them when they want to communicate with Chinese managers, and also invited me to join their daily meeting to help with translation. While doing the translation, I learnt a lot things that I could never learnt from simple assembling, for example, the way how the whole project is working, how logistic is supporting the project and so on.

This internship was very close to my major and what I learnt at school. I got to know how the engine is working to support automobiles, the structure of cars while assembling PT cars. What I learnt from the internship is not only technology but also project management. I realized how important is leadership in a project while accomplishing a project and the importance of the link between each department and their cooperation. I am more interested in my major after this internship, therefore, I would like to encourage more people to do internship during their university life, and they will be clearer about what they really want in future career.
