Summer Internship at ADM in Jakarta
During their summer vacation in 2014, three 1st year students in Mechanical Engineering program participated in 3-week internship of PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) in Jakarta, Indonesia. ADM is a subsidiary of the Japanese company Daihatsu Motor Co. Ltd. and manufactures Daihatsu and Toyota cars as well as its parts.

To be able to do internship at ADM was an unforgettable and precious experience for me. It was the first time for me to enter a car manufacturing factory and experience firsthand a working environment. There was a lot of knowledge that I gained. The trainers taught me not only about technical skills, but also life lessons and how to survive in a work place. Moreover, the trainers were kind and accommodative. This internship was truly beneficial, and will certainly help me in my future career. I now have interest in materials, engine, and mass production management. In summary, I am glad that I had the chance to participate in this program. (Nadhifa)
I have been wondering how to build a car from a sketch to a final product. Through this internship program, I was given a chance to see directly the production of a car. Since my major is mechanical engineering, this internship was a perfect chance to see the application of theories I had learnt. During this internship period I gain some interest in car design, car engine and the strength of material of the body of a car. Lastly, I am sure that skills and knowledge that I gained from this internship will be useful to help my studies in future. (Nixon)
Overall, I was grateful to be given a chance to do internship at ADM since I was able to gain so many knowledge and experience of working in an automotive company. Moreover I now became more knowledgeable in car manufacturing process than I was before. Even sometimes we learn more than just car manufacturing process from the experiences and stories of the trainers. (Kevin)
