The Profound Beauty of Autumn Leaves

Ito area of Fukuoka has some of the best places to experience the magnificent autumn. Raizan Sennyoji Dai-Hiouin temple and Shiraito Waterfall are two such places. I have had the privilege to visit those places twice already; nonetheless, every time I go I am wonderstruck at the exquisiteness of nature that can be experienced there. Thus when I heard of a trip being organized to those places by Explore Itoshima (a group of students from Kyushu University promoting the tourism of Itoshima city), I did not have any second thoughts and registered right away. This would be my third time. Moreover, Explore Itoshima was taking us to two other places Sakurai shrine and Futamigaura beach.  In addition to that, the tour was being held on the weekend, so why not enjoy and relax myself in the harmony of nature?

The Raizan temple is said to have been inaugurated in the year 178. The main Buddha statue has 11 faces and 1000 hands. The ambience with the beautiful Japanese garden is heavenly. The 400 year old maple tree in the front garden is designated as a natural monument by Fukuoka prefecture.
Shiraito waterfall located on Mt. Haganeyama is a delightful spot to take beautiful pictures with the crystal clear white water of the falls. The area is also surrounded by Japanese maple trees to make the place even more enchanting.
Set in the woodlands, Sakurai shrine is a quiet place where one can go to offer prayers.

Futamigaura beach has two rocks lying close to one another just off the coast that are connected with a sacred straw rope owned by Sakurai Shrine. There are many roadside cafes to enjoy the scenery with delicious food. If one is lucky to go on a non-cloudy day then they can view the sun go down between the two rocks and that is, a truly mesmerizing sight.

We were a group of 22 people and all of us had a splendid time during the outing. Whether you are a tourist to Fukuoka or a student here, I would really recommend going to those places and getting spellbound at the beauty of nature.
